It’s time to get fishy!

Do you love penguins? Join dedicated keepers for a personal trip to Adelaide Zoo’s Penguin Beach and help feed the hilarious colony of Little Penguins their fishy lunch.

Just so you know, penguin table manners are a little different to ours so things may get a bit messy. Please dress appropriately.

Each of the penguins has a unique personality, making the colony a hive of activity. The playful penguins love chattering and squawking to one another and are always busy, spending their days swimming, diving and darting through the waters at speeds of up to 40km an hour! On land, they are a little less graceful, waddling and hopping over rocks to their burrows.

Please note the minimum age for this experience is 10 years.

Highlights of this experience

  • Head into the Little Penguin habitat and meet the colony
  • Get the opportunity to hand feed snacks to the little fish-lovers

Did you know there are 17 different kinds of penguins? Also known as ‘fairy penguins’, Little Penguins are the smallest penguin in the world, growing to about 30cm in height.

How your ticket helps our conservation efforts

In the wild, Little Penguins face many threats. Both adults and chicks are often killed by introduced species such as foxes, dogs and cats. Pollution in the ocean like fishing hooks, plastic waste and oil spills, as well as over fishing and habitat loss are also a huge risks to these little guys.

By purchasing a ticket to Penguins in Person at Adelaide Zoo, you are not only supporting the incredible species in our care, you’re also helping us raise awareness and valuable funds to safeguard their wild cousins. Part of the income generated from our Animal Experiences contributes to the work Zoos SA does in support of a wide number of conservation programs both within and beyond our gates.
