The BHP Pilbara Education Partnership is seeking a dynamic, highly organised individual, ideally with experience in public relations, marketing and communications, to support the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership (the Partnership) 2021 to 2023.
This role will require the successful applicant to liaise and work with the overarching BHP Pilbara Education Partnership Coordinator to implement an extensive range of marketing and communication strategies across the Early Years and Pathways aspects of the Partnership.
An integral component of this role is consistent, clear messaging and communication across sites and agencies, upholding the relationships that have been established between Partnership stakeholders. This communication will include media releases, social media, websites, printed communications and reporting to stakeholders.
The position requires a capacity to work strategically and efficiently and exhibit highly effective organisational skills. The position reports to the Partnership Coordinator and focuses on the Partnership communication strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working collaboratively with school Principals, the Partnership Coordinator and other department staff to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive marketing communications strategy for the Partnership.
- Providing ongoing strategic advice to the Partnership Coordinator on marketing, communication and stakeholder engagement matters and represents the Partnership in various stakeholder forums, as required.
- Developing and managing a comprehensive database of stakeholders for market research and marketing purposes.
- Developing and maintaining a style guide for consistent application to all communication tools.
- In consultation with stakeholders, coordinating the production of a range of publications which may include advertisements, handbooks, brochures, newsletters, website and all other social media platforms to promote the Partnership, outcomes and information.
- Organising and coordinating marketing events, including attending after hours’ functions.
- Managing associated cost centre in accordance with project brief and financial compliance requirements.
The role will be based in South Hedland and commences Term 2, 2021 until December 2023, with the possibility of extension. There will be an expectation that the successful applicant will participate in an induction, including Cultural Awareness, Department Code of Conduct, Accountability and Ethics, Record Keeping and Operational Procedures. Housing is not attached to this position, potential applicants are requested to consider this prior to applying.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- comprehensive experience undertaking a multi-faceted communication, public relations or marketing role in a service organisation.
- well-developed skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating marketing and/or communication strategies.
- well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills and experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and alliances.
- well-developed events, project management and organisational skills, including the ability to work independently and on multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- considerable knowledge and understanding of graphic design, print management, web publishing and database management.
- ability to manage a financial budget and associated reporting requirements.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- hold or obtain a valid Western Australian Driver’s Licence
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
