COVID-19 Care in the Community Framework (From 1 October 2023)
IMPORTANT: Please see below claiming cut off timeframes
Please read the below framework guidance carefully.
Claiming continues to be via the POAC claiming mechanism, please use codes relevant to the period of activity being claimed.
COVID testing is now also claimed via the POAC claiming mechanism ONLY for the following scenarios:
Positive supervised RAT for those who meet antiviral criteria AND are physically unable to self-test. RATs are available free from selected pharmacies. (Alternatively, if high risk, meet antiviral criteria and exposed, treat as probable).
PCR testing (only for eligible patients, as per national guidance)
Testing CANNOT be claimed in addition to the initial COVID-19 assessment claim. Claim for the test ONLY if not requiring COVID-19 care.
CLAIMING CUT-OFF DATES FOR GENERAL PRACTICE/UCC COVID CARE AND TESTING:
ALL COVID CARE CLAIMS UP TO 26TH SEPTEMBER 2022 MUST BE SUBMITTED BY 5 NOVEMBER 2023. From here the following schedule will be followed (no exceptions will be accepted)
As at 31/12/23 claims accepted from 1 December 2022
As at 31/01/24 claims accepted from 1 March 2023
As at 29/02/24 claims accepted from 1 June 2023
As at 31/03/24 claims accepted from 1 August 2023
As at 30/04/24 claims accepted from 1 November 2023
As at 31/05/24 claims accepted from 1 December 2023
As at 30/06/24 claims accepted from 1 March 2024
